A year ago a Rav that I greatly respect said to me that I should focus the energies that I expend on blogs into learning the Kavvanot. His remarks gave me pause and I thought about what I was doing. I was spending a good bit of time getting involved in various online controversies, which really, at the end of the day, are just about pointless.
The moment when things really struck me was when I was in the middle of the Amidah, and instead of focusing as I should on the Kavvanot I was thinking about what my next blog post would be about. So I took a year off as a sort of detox. I wanted to rethink the direction that this blog was going to go. I figured that at the end of that year I would either pop back in to say, “well it’s been a good run, but I’m done” or to say I’m Back.
One of the things that convinced me to do the latter was my Rosh Yeshiva finding my blog and congratulating me on it. Apparently he felt it was really well done and things were really well said. I’m assuming that is after someone translated them for him. Either way he sent the Rosh Kollel and the Mashgiach Ruchani to tell me how great a job I had been doing and to suggest some new content.
So this is my come back. I am hoping to be back posting somewhat regularly, though things have only gotten more hectic in my life in the last year. My youngest child is now walking, I have three kids in school, my milah and safrut businesses are taking off… All of it good things and simchot Barukh HaShem, but all of it dragging at my time. So this won’t be a daily blog anymore, probably more two maybe three times weekly along with the things from Rav Hillel and Rav Morgenshtern.
An easy fast everyone.
